Motorola Droid(Shole/Milestone) vs. iPhone 3GS

There is a video on Youtube made by PhoneDog.com comparing Motorola Droid (Shole/Milestone) and iPhone 3GS, which are 2 of the most talked about smartphones at this moment.

Here are key points in this video:

  • Both price of Motorola Droid (Shole with 16Gb SD Card) and iPhone 3Gs (16Gb version)  with contract are the same in US, which is $199;
  • The voice quality of these 2 mobile phones are close, though the speaker of Motorola Droid is a little bit louder;
  • The screen resolution of Droid is much higer, but the zoom in/out function of Droid is not as easy as iPhone 3GS to use, while zoom in/out could be done with 2 fingers on Milestone — the Europe version of  Droid. Maybe Shole coul has this feature later with third party solutions.
  • Droid is more heavy and more solid.
  • Users have to push hard to open the physical keyboard of Droid. It is a little big loose when closed, which is normal and has no influence on daily usage.
  • The resolution of camera on Droid is 5MP, which is higher than the camera of iPhone, and it has LED flash. However, the reaction speed of Droid’s camera is quite slow and the auto focusing time is also too long. There is also lag to reload photo.
  • In video mode, Droid behaves better. The video captured by Droid is clear than iPhone.

In general, the performance of iPhone 3GS and Motorola Droid are comparable. They have similar size and features. Droid has better hardware specifications, but the software optimization on iPhone is better.
